Spring is just around the corner!

Writer: Cherry BlossomCherry Blossom

We are nearly there, the end of winter is coming and spring is just around the corner, I cannot wait as this winter has been particularly cold at times. The days are growing longer, sunlight is starting to warm the skin again, and the Robin is doing his best to keep my spirits up. This shift in the seasons brings anticipation as nature bursts into life.

The Beauty of Nature’s Awakening

March signals a beautiful transformation in nature. The first signs of spring, such as crocuses and snowdrops, emerge from the ground, bringing vibrant colours to gardens. Although as I took a walk down by the River Ock last week I noticed snowdrops already. In fact, studies show that seeing flowers can boost mood by 50%, it certainly worked for me.

Cherry blossom trees are my absolute favourite! Not long now.

Outdoor Activities to Welcome Spring

For gardening enthusiasts, this is the time to prepare vegetable and flower beds. By the end of March, you can start planting peas, radishes, and sunflowers. There is still plenty to do in February, from preparing vegetable seed beds to "chit" Potatoes, especially for earlies. But of course, that's what I'm here for, reach out to me if you need some help.

Spring Cleaning: A Fresh Start

A clean and organised space can improve mood and productivity. Studies indicate that a tidy environment can increase focus and reduce anxiety. Spring cleaning is also an opportunity for mindfulness, allowing you to reflect on what truly matters and release what no longer serves a purpose in your life. A tidy and clean garden as spring approaches is no different, and sets the tone for the rest of the year. Being prepared and ready now, makes it much easier once the garden fully comes to life.

A Fresh Perspective

As we welcome the arrival of spring in March, let’s celebrate the joy and beauty it brings. From outdoor activities and gardening to spring cleaning and community events, there are countless ways to embrace this season of renewal. Take advantage of the longer days and milder weather. Immerse yourself in nature’s wonders. Spring is more than a seasonal change; it’s a chance for new beginnings, rejuvenation, and connection—with nature, with others, and within yourself. Embrace the journey that lies ahead!
